Neptune in Pisces
June 19, 2013
With all the recent concerns about apocalyptic Mayan prophecies, it is easy forget that mystical Neptune will be a major part of the mix for the next thirteen years. As the planet of dreams and visions enters the sign of its modern rulership, its impact on everyone becomes more powerful. What will Neptune’s passage through Pisces add to the current cultural mix? In this talk for the general public, Steven Forrest explores the idea that the tensions of the current world situation will soon propel humanity in a new and more spiritual direction. It has worked in the past, as a brief review of this historical 165-year cycle will demonstrate. For each one of us on a conscious path, our task is to help it happen again.
Date: Wednesday, June 19, 2013, 7–9 pm, $45 ($25 for Apprenticeship Program participants)

Evolutionary Astrology Workshop
June 20-23, 2013
North Carolina Astrology Apprenticeship Group.
Topic: Creating the Actual Nodal Story
The very heart of practical evolutionary astrology lies in the collision between the psychological and the metaphysical (past life) interpretation of the birthchart. To make the past life story come alive for the client, we need to present it in a lively, engaging fashion. We know the story is "made up," and we express that fact clearly to the client - but we also know that, if we do it right, the story we tell will parallel an actual unresolved drama from at least one prior lifetime, and that it will trigger a cathartic reaction which brings the therapeutic dimension of the interpretative process to fruition. Success here depends on two skills. First, we must have a solid grounding in the methodology of nodal analysis, the kind of material we have often covered in class and which is explored thoroughly in Steven's book, Yesterday's Sky. Second, we need to come up with a good, compelling tale, one that rivets clients' attention and pulls them right back into that charged space of emotional "remembering."
Australia AP Retreat
July 29-August 2, 2013
Topic: Sex, Death, and the Occult
People inevitably make jokes when they hear that an edition of the Apprenticeship Program will be entitled “Sex, Death and The Occult.” And that is fine - some dimensions of life impact us with such fierce intensity at the emotional level that we must use humour as a buffer against them.
To be sure, in this five day class, we will laugh. We will laugh at human folly and we will laugh at death’s ultimate frailty. But we will also explore some very sensitive terrain - terrain that is not for the faint-hearted. In fact, Steven views some of this material as so sensitive that he never teaches it outside the more intimate confines of the AP.
Love, sex, and family-- some things are eternal. Or are they? We no longer live in the world of our grandparents. Relationship astrology must change with the times.
Glib formulas such as "Cancers should marry Pisceans and avoid Arians" just do not work anymore, nor do simplistic ideas such as "squares between Venuses are bad and trines are good." Many of the structures that in the old astrology were viewed as relationship-killers are in fact connected with shared soul-growth - and thus with that intimate Holy Grail: Lasting purple passion.
Northern California AP Retreat
September 27-October 1, 2013

Topic: And They Lived Complicatedly Ever After
Join Steven for his annual spring program in Northern California. This program counts towards certification through Steven's Astrology Apprenticeship Program.
Synastry is tricky technically because you have so many balls to juggle - two birthcharts, plus their interactions, plus the composite chart, plus the way the individual charts interact with the composite. So, how can we possibly add thinking about transits, progressions and solar arcs to the mix? We quickly arrive at that paralytic state in which the creative, integrative parts of our consciousness are just choking on all the data. We know that it is time to retreat when that overwhelm arises, time to cooperate more gently with our intuitive functions. Fine - but the problem is, once people are in a relationship, they usually keep on growing and changing. So what if I go through a big Saturn time and I need a lot of time alone while your Moon is progressing through the 7th house and you need to feel really connected with me? That is intimate reality and astrology mirrors it beautifully and clearly - if we can look at the symbolism without getting dizzy.
The Lunar Phases
The lunar phases are curiously marginalized in astrological practice. How is a Full Moon in Gemini different from a crescent Moon in the same sign? What about waxing versus waning? Based on The Book of the Moon, this lecture introduces an eight-phase interpretation of the lunar cycle based on the Pagan calendar of solstices, equinoxes, and cross-quarter days.
